This study explores the application of Slag dust, an industrial by-product from steel manufacturing, as a partial replacement for natural river sand in concrete. It investigates the mechanical, durability, and workability performance of concrete with various proportions of screened or crushed Slag dust replacing sand, alongside the chemical interactions involved during cement hydration. The results demonstrate that replacement up to 60% enhances strength and durability due to pozzolanic activity and improved microstructure, though workability decreases because of increased water demand, which can be mitigated by admixtures. Compared to river sand, Slag dust offers environmental and economic advantages by recycling industrial waste and reducing natural sand consumption, thus serving as a sustainable alternative fine aggregate.
